"Romantic sagas have traditionally been the province of female writers, but Michael Taylor convincingly breaks the mould. He is a born storyteller with a great sense of history and a talent for creating believable characters." The Historical Novels Review, May 2006

Michael Taylor was born in Dudley in Worcestershire, England, and was educated at Dudley Grammar School. He began writing seriously in 1990, and in 1997 his first novel, Eve's Daughter - destined to become the first of a trilogy - was published by Peacock Publishing. Soon after, Michael was signed up by Hodder & Stoughton who subsequently published 8 of his novels, including a new imprint of Eve's Daughter. His ninth novel, Linden Woods, was published in May 2007 Severn House. Michael spends a great deal of time on, and enjoys, the research for his novels, and the subject of research forms the basis of an entertaining talk he is willing to deliver to interested groups. It can also touch on the research done by more controversial novelists working in different genres. He has always been interested in music, leading him in the 1960s into songwriting and performing with the popular recording group, Herbie's People. In the '80s Michael became a widely published amateur photographer, producing striking graphic style images that won him recognition from photo salons all over the world. His work has also been exhibited at Laycock Abbey, the home of photography. Michael's other interests include reading, restoring old photos, art, video photography and computers. He plays golf and is an occasional spectator at league football matches. He also enjoys good food, good beer and decent wine. Michael lives in South Staffordshire. |
Michael's novels are listed in order of publication.

The Romantic Novelists' Association
Research by 'The Sunday Mercury' in 1998 revealed that out of 700 members of the Romantic Novelists' Association only 20 are men and, of those, Michael Taylor is the only one who does not use a female pseudonym. |
